Cake for Cancer!

We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone isn’t it? CANCER, the mere possibility or thinking about it gives me goosebumps. My aunt suffered with cancer and I know how traumatizing the chemo and radiation sessions are. It is difficult to see the one you love go through all the agony. Cancer can be life-altering of-course but should never be life defining. My family was very supportive and is financially sound and we are still trying to help her fight her brave battle with CANCER. I have been to TATA Memorial Hospital, the best hospital for cancer treatment, the aura around makes me weak in the knees. From small babies to grey-haired species everyone is battling CANCER. God-forbid imagine something like this happening to someone you know? Have you ever thought about the tons of kids who are detected with cancer but can do nothing about it? Especially the underprivileged ones staying in the rural areas? Their parents sacrifice everything and they sell their house, farms in the rural area where they reside so that they can collect money to treat their children. How disheartening is this! You sell everything in the hope that you can save your child but the money isn’t sufficient. Once they know their child is detected with cancer they re-locate to Mumbai or any urban city for treatment. Poor or rich, everyone requires food, clothing and shelter. What do they have? No food No shelter. There are various “shacks” or “jhopdis” that are built outside TATA hospital by people whose kids are treated in the hospital and they cannot afford the stay in Mumbai. Of course, hardly anybody can. Even the policemen co-operate and do not bombard their shacks.

These are few of the under-priviledged children going through the same agonies and are nurtured by Cuddles Foundation. How many days can you survive in a shady place without food? 0. And for people like us not even ½. Those small innocent kids have to survive days without food. Lack of nutrition makes the medicine injected in their body ineffective. Also, this ruins their health even more. The hospital shows that the drop out rate is 20-30%. Due to no money for food particularly the parents abandon the treatment. Can’t we support the fighters? We easily forget how precious it is to be alive. We are so busy in our lives that we forget we are HUMAN. Today let’s give food to a kid who really need it. What will it give you? The peace and satisfaction of bringing  smile to their face and food to their stomachs.

The Bake Collective has organized a fundraiser campaign for Cuddles foundation and the event is supported by Muskurahat Foundation. The initiative is called THE BAKE SALE for raising funds for the nutrition of under-privileged children fighting against Cancer. Let me tell you how this will work:

  • Funds will be raised by sale of cakes and puddings.
  • This fund will be utilized to provide a month’s ration for 40 under-privileged families whose kids are battling CANCER.
  • The Bake Sale aims to raise Rs. 66000
  • Due to financial constraints of families of children battling cancer who relocate to Mumbai for treatments are unable to provide meals for themselves due to which a child is unable to maintain daily calorie intake. Hence, the chance of abandoning the treatment increases.

We easily shell out on things our better halves demand from us don’t we? “Arey dost ka birthday hai gift dena hai!” Lets gift a needy some food? Is that a lot to ask for? Lets vanish our dessert craving in The Bake Sale on 2nd April 2016, Saturday. The venue is Outside Al’s Tattoo Salon, Opposite St. Peter’s Church, Hill Road, Bandra West, Mumbai.

The Bake Sale!!!

Red-velvet cheesecake, dutch truffle pastries, caramel puddings… already drooling over the names? Haha. Everybody loves food, who doesn’t? Ever tried to go a day without food non-willingly? Yes? If so, you can relate how cranky you must be that day. How weak did you feel? Now imagine a small kiddo suffering with something as traumatizing as cancer and has no food to add to it. The thought itself makes me cringe.

We take our better halves and family on dates and lavish dinners, while do you know 3000 kids die daily in India due to no food. How many of us do something out of the way to help somebody that wouldn’t benefit us? We see so many motivational or sad posts, videos on social media. We like it. Share it. Forget it. But then, we do have the urge to change things in the society right. How about today Muskurahat Foundation gives you an opportunity that would help you in being the reason for someone’s smile?

With a population in Billions how difficult is it to raise Rs. 66k? Who knew a piece of cake that you eat can help somebody battle Cancer? They are already going through a lot, least we can do is support them with a meal. Lets support the noble cause- The Bake Sale on 2nd April 2016, Saturday. Do it Smiling…

Let’s talk about the things we ignore from understanding the meaning before acting to keep acting after understanding. Confusing na, yes it’s confusing like all of us charging towards the heart that doesn’t want your chivalry all it desire is the assurance of being safe in their valor. The shade of intolerance with which we paint our character will lead us to nowhere other than slavery which was
our past and we tend to trail back. We urge each of you to understand before being judgemental because your words may inspire others to cause the change which may be prosperous to them or horrendous. Like a smile inspire a smile but a gloom inspires the rage.
If you’re wrong accept it smiling and if other is wrong correct him smiling rather than being intolerant towards his thoughts.

Cracker Free Diwali

Cracker free Diwali

Each year we watch those ads and hear the campaign narrating and promoting cracker free Diwali. Each year instead of all that we hear those crackers crackling and blasting at a loud decibel and soon we join in contributing our share of extra loiud decibel to the ears and heart of animals including pets and stray dogs. And all of the ads and campaign flush out of our head within seconds because we enjoyed it.

This year too on Diwali such ads and post would we lingering your wall and blogs and some of us would surely be supporting it and some of them in that some amount will forgot what they have supported instead they would narrate how much money they have spent just on crackers. What all costly crackers they have bought for their children.

Well it’s high time and now we seriously need to be serious about those things which worry others not us. It’s high time and we should stop ourselves from harming others whether directly or indirectly. The cracker we use create noise pollution making it intolerable for pets  to sustain that high decibels. The waste left off is often sniffed by stray dogs and other animals make it dangerous to their health. The cracker may not be harmful to you but same can’t be said for others. So this Diwali think before lighting a cracker about other, think before pranking it to the tail of dogs, to the weak ears, to the light heart what it could do other than making you laugh for seconds pain for hour to other. Choose to celebrate cracker free Diwali. This year celebrate just Diwali.

From Gandhi to Shastri…

From Gandhi to Shastri…

Today’s day which is October 2, on this very day two of India’s most prominent personality were born. On tracing back some years we find Lal bahadur shastri India’s second prime minister was born and if we further trace back the time we may find our father of nation Gandhi, the man of millennia was born. Now you all may be wondering it to be history blog brushing your head with words flattering like that of politicians.
But it’s something different like you all have heard the sayings of these two men like Gandhi said ‘ To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest’. And we all are being dishonest to ourselves because we believe a smile is the cure to curse but we won’t smile may be because we are afraid of ourselves exhibiting at public. We try to retain the image which comforts society no matter how uncomfortable it may be. We suffocate our real self behind the fake and sophisticated smiles. So believe in MUSKURAHAT, believe in smile and live it because being dishonest to ourselves is the ugliest thing to be done to oneself.
Lal bahadur shastri said, ‘ That loyalty to the country comes ahead of all other loyalties’ but if he has to live today he would rephrase it and loyalty to ourselves stands very first because if you can’t be loyal to yourself then how you could be loyal to country. We all have worries and they will continue to haunt you but you shouldn’t be dishonest to yourself, be loyal, be Shastri, be Gandhi or simply be you and for that Smile.

Founder’s Post

I m from a school where we were used to going in orphanages and old aged homes..  A year past when I left my school, I was missing those days of visiting such places… I decided to celebrate my birthday in an orphanage… Actually, not an orphanage, a juvenile home… I did my best n v had a great time there… That day, I experienced the joy of giving happiness… Also, since childhood… I hv a vision in my life.. I.e. To make people around me smile in any way… So… I discussed the idea of forming a team n doing social work with my best friend, Rahul Bhadarka n he supported me… I discussed this with other friends n led to the formation of a team of friends called Muskurahat… The first one year wasn’t good for us as the time clashed with our studies… N my friends backed out one by one… But people call me Dream Chaser.. I chase my dreams.. I never let Muskurahat get off my mind n continued it individually… Then came a time, after I was declared as Mr. Hinduja n I got famous… Muskurahat became a topic to talk about for everyone… Slowly n steadily… Muskurahat grew bigger.. People joined… And now I can proudly say that I AM THE FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF MUSKURAHAT – Himanshu Goenka

Hero’s Smile

Smile if you wanna be a Hero.

We human are the only species who have the quality to reason the existence from dirt to our mighty earth. We can reason anything and due to this quality of reasoning, newton discovered gravity and world discovered a genius. We can even reason our success, sorrow and ‘Smile’. Do you know there are billions of people speaking millions of language, off course you know this but do you know inspite of difference in our race, culture, language and Nation we billion of people smile like you and me. We all smile and its universal. You might call a language foreign but you won’t call a smile foreign. Have you ever heard of this term ‘foreign smile’? I know you haven’t.
A culture binds a city, a language binds a state, a flags wraps the nation but a smile, it connect the world. A smile is the sign of acceptance of Love, mischievous act and many more wonderful rides. It’s also a sign of being normal to the world or they will term you devdas or mad one day. So if you are being called a nerd, DevD, Majnu or a mourn  face or anything other things you didn’t liked to be called then smile and you will see the magic as it would less your pain because it takes guts to smile at your troubles and the one who do that are Heroes, so be hero and for that you just have to ‘Smile’.

Smile Wins Hearts

Smiles win hearts
You might have heard that and we did that. We won heart of those children who have no one to call family and on the occasion of this Raksha bandhan we played to be their family to bring the temporary respite from the bitter truth of life making them unable to smile. We played to be their family and did all those crazy stuff which we do to confront smile on the faces of our family member. We played antakshari to make their lips dance on the beat of laughter. We grooved on the moves of D4Dance crew, we played passing the parcel and passed smile along with the parcel. We blindfolded their grief and presented them the moment to cherish this day if traced back the time. we played to be their sibling and they played their part well with dedication considering us to be their real sisters and brothers.
As each family need a support our Smile family was supported by Rotaract Club of DTSS College and we show our gratitude for their support. Our initiative was success as our effort was well paid with the smile they had at the end for us. Lastly i just want to say what our smile family believes in, we believe in MUSKURAHAT because its the best cure available which could turn a day bright in the storm of life decorated with hassle. Just remember it’s smile which wins heart.

Bandhan Pyar ka… A treaty of Love

Bandhan Pyar ka… A treaty of Love

Raksha Bandhan, an auspicious day when a sister seals two ends of a thread around wrist of her beloved brother who vouch to protect her. This day hits the calendar each year, marks the arrival of new vouch and revival of old but for some it don’t seem to exist. There are several hand which are bereft of this auspicious thread. There are lips with no smile and they are left from performing this rightful and amazing ritual of India. What it’s like to have a hand with no Rakhi, mouth with no sweets and lips with no smile.
This is often what we all tend to ignore but we at MUSKURAHAT don’t believe in ignorance because we don’t let those lips drop as spreading smile is our motto.
On this Raksha Bandhan, the smile army of MUSKURAHAT will visit the orphans to act as brothers to the girls with no such luck of having a brother and sisters to the boys so that we could make their lips smile and hands decorated with beautiful Rakhi.
So come, sign in the treaty of love and decorate a hand with Rakhi and life with sweetness, make them realise the warmth of this day and be the cause of a smile, be a smile soldier.
